Sensory-Friendly Meeting with Santa
A Sensory-Friendly Santa Experience
Service Description
Children on the Autism Spectrum very often cannot participate in activities the same way other kids do. Sights, sounds and lights can often “trigger” them. This often precludes families from participating in normal holiday activities. Autism Support Now (ASN) is excited to be providing a sensory-friendly Santa experience for children and families touched by autism spectrum disorder across the greater metropolitan area of St. Louis. These events are designed to remove distractions and to remove triggering stimuli from kids on the spectrum. Different from a shopping mall experience, crowds and waiting lines will be kept to a minimum, therefore, a reserved time is necessary, and we can accommodate siblings either with or without Santa, if desired. While families wait to visit with the Holiday Icon, they will be able to learn more about ASN, partake in snacks and goodies, and see the fun, learning environment that an ASN child experiences. (There will be places for supervised free play for siblings.) all of which leads up to a photo opportunity during a private one on one visit with Santa.
